First Reiki Session: What to Expect

Maybe a friend mentioned it. Maybe you've been quietly googling it for months. Maybe you just know you need something, and this keeps coming up. Many people feel nervous before their first Reiki session, especially when they don’t know what to expect.
Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you're curious.
A lot of people come to their first Reiki session not really knowing what to expect. Some are a little skeptical. Some have done a lot of research and still feel unsure. And most of them tell me afterward they wish they'd come sooner.
So here's what actually happens when you book with me, from the moment you walk in.
We start with a conversation
Before anything else, we just talk. I'll ask how you're doing, what's been weighing on you lately, and what you're hoping to get out of the session. There's no right answer to any of it.
Some people come in with something specific on their mind. A big life change, grief they're sitting with, a body that hasn't felt right in a long time. Others just say, "I'm exhausted, and I don't know why." That's enough. That's actually a really good place to start.
You don't need to have it figured out. You just need to show up.
You stay fully clothed
That might seem like a strange thing to mention, but many people just don't know. So let me reassure you. You don't undress. You lie down on a comfortable table, I put a blanket over you if you'd like one, and that's it. Solfeggio frequency music plays softly in the background. The room is quiet. There's nowhere else you need to be.
For a lot of people, just lying still in a calm space is already something they haven't given themselves in months.
You don't need to do anything except breathe and let yourself be still. That in itself is the work.
What happens during the session
I'll place my hands lightly on or just above different areas of your body. There's no pressure, no manipulation. It's very gentle.
What you feel is completely your own. Some people notice warmth coming from my hands. Some feel a tingling or a kind of heaviness in their limbs, the kind where your body finally lets go. Some see colours or images. Some drift into a state that's somewhere between awake and asleep. Some feel emotion move through them and release.
And some don't feel much at all during the session but may notice something shift the next day. All of it is normal. All of it is okay.
Afterward
We'll take a few quiet minutes to come back. I'll share anything I noticed during our session, and you're welcome to share what you felt, though there's no pressure to process out loud.
Most people leave feeling lighter. Calmer. More like themselves again. Some feel a little emotional, or tired in that good, releasing kind of way. I always recommend drinking water and giving yourself a gentle evening if you can.
Reiki tends to build over time. A lot of clients notice the biggest shifts after their second or third session, as the body starts to remember what it feels like to be settled.
A note on Distance Reiki
Not everyone can get here in person, and that's okay. Distance Reiki works the same way, just without you needing to travel. You'll be at home, lying down somewhere quiet, at the time we agree on. I hold the session from my end.
People are often surprised by how clearly they feel it. If you're curious, I'm happy to explain more before you book.
Whenever you're ready
Sessions are 60 minutes and $95. I offer in-person Reiki at Wellington Natural Health in Downtown Chilliwack, and Distance Reiki wherever you are.
If you have questions first, just reach out. There's no pressure and no expectation. I just want you to feel like you know what you're walking into.
